System:
Acer Aspire T630
2 sticks of DDR 256mb
1 LG DVD Burner
1 SATA 80gb (dont know what brand)
MSI 6800gs
was "Unbranded CHeap 300w" changed to "Enermax 460w"
Monitor Acer Al502

The problem is my new graphic card from MSI. I bought a MSI 6800gs to replace my slow Radeon X300se. I tried to installed it into my system. Everything seemed to be going fine until I finished installin the drivers. As soon as the driver finished installing the screen went blank for a couple of second, and then it started to display strange colors. In another word some part of screen started to flicker.

After inspecting the manual given with the card, I noticed that I did not meet the power requirement of 400w. I also was using a Molex to PCIE adaptor for the graphic card. Therefore I went outside and bought a Enermax 460w. When i put the Enermax into the system, the same problem occured. Unfortunately the Enermax also does have a PCIE power connector.

Could the monitor also be the problem?

Please help me! I hope I do not have a faulty graphic card... Can you give me suggestions?

Thanx!!

No, they make the adapters so you dont need to buy a PSU with the connectors. Is anything visible on the screen, ie. can you navigate your way around windows?

I think XFX packs those with their cards. Haven't found one of those adapters in a store though, ever. But that's probably because I haven't looked hard enough for one.

Could be possible that there are bits of your old ATi driver on your system. Switching from and ATi card to an Nvidia card you want to pay special attention to cleaning the old drivers out the best you can. Get driver cleaner http://www.drivercleaner.net/ and uninstal the drivers you have on right now Through "Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs". Secondly run drivercleaner to clean ATi drivers then run it again to clean off Nvidia drivers. After that reboot and reinstall the latest drivers by Nvidia.

The drivercleaner software doesn't work. The card always seems to display fine with at 640x480 without any installed drivers. Once the driver is installed the problem occurs.
