problem with my Geforce Go 7900. Maybe overheated? Please help

Hi guys,

last week I got a bluescreen while I played a game for about 10 minutes and it said "error with nvlddmkm.sys" (or so) and a lot of other stuff, then it would restart and ask me if I wanna start windows in the secured mode (or safe mode? don't know how it is in the english version) I started windows in normal mode again and while booting I got the same bluescreen -> restart-> this time I chose the secure mode and it worked. Soon I found out nvlddmkm.sys has something to do with my graphic card, so I deinstalled the drivers for it, restarted the system and it booted.


I have my laptop for about two years now (I lived one of those years in Germany and the second one in Washington D.C.) and never had this problem. Last week I went to Las Vegas and bam, it screwed up. So I think the graphic card could be overheated (I always lie in my bed and have my laptop on my legs, but as I said never had any problems with that)

System information:

Dell Inspiron 9400
Intel core 2 T7200
2GB Ram
NVidia Geforce Go 7900
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit

I don't know what else I can tell you

I would start by cleaning out the fans, canned or compressed air works well for that. Also, try downloading evga precision and seeing what temperatures it gives for the GPU.

Yes, but whatever you do make sure to use a small screwdriver or something similar to hold the fan in place that your vacuuming, if not the suction can cause the fan to spin far outside its rpm range and can destroy the bearings on the fan.

Ive always used jewlers screwdrivers, just cuz i have close to 40 of them lying around my room and are always in easy reach:P Basically anything that will keep it from spinning works great;)

I personally would never recommend using a vacuum as they
can create static electricity and cause a static charge to run through your hand and arc onto your components.

Compressed air can't be beaten.

Actually, every laptop forum ive been on has suggested using compressed air and a vacuum cleaner to clean out notebooks, thats the way i have done it for 4-5 years and never had a problem.
 
Ok guys, I cleaned everything tonight and got some dust out, but it still doesn't work.
Since yesterday my laptop won't even bring the bluescreen up anymore, it just freezes during booting. And right now I found out that only one of my coolers works :( I'm really pissed right now
 
Which cooler is broken? If its the CPU one it may be causing problems. ever tried playing a game and removing the cpu heatsink?
