my pc will run everything fine unless it is a game that requires to use the cd drive to run the game. it will run for awhile then the game will freeze and th computer says that the game ran into a problem and has to close. when the game closesthe sounds continue untill i eject the cd. I have tried using both drives and get the same results. any ideas? help please

Have you tried playing dvd media, music cd's, vcd's, etc.. on the drives? Also, any other games? It sounds like it could be the drive lense not reading too well anymore, however since you said you tried it on another, it'll be a conincidence if both have weak lenses.

Is it the Pioneer and the Que?

Try cleaning the drive with one of those insert-cd-and-it-cleans-it thingys. Either that or get a new drive and see if it works; they're pretty inexpensive....

Sorry if I'm too vague....

ok i cleaned the drive with a cd cleaner but it didnt change anything but last night i burned a dvd and it kinda worked. when i first started dvd shrink it would kill the computer. then i downloaded speedfan and i got it to run shrink and burn the disk with nero as long as i only ran dvd shrink if i tried to do anything else it would just shut down the computer. Sound like a mobo or a cpu issue?

well i finally found out why my computer would shutdown every now and then. It was the cpu. I replaced that celeron 2.7 piece of junk with a p4 2.66 and now i can run any program i want aand not have a problem.
