I am currently running a Dell Wireless 1450 Wireless USB Adapter. Says its high speed certified, wi fi certified and cisco compatible (this is all written on the back of it, not sure what it all means, just putting as much info as I can. The router currently used in our house hold is a D-Link 802.11g/2.4 GHz. Every so often the conenction will drop, or I get really poor connection. Just curious if you could tell me if it is my wireless adapter, or if the router is a cheap one. Would also like to know of a good setup to get good connection and speeds all the time.( Change to a different adapter? new router? or maybe both?) Thanks A Lot.

I have read on here that the PCI router card, adapters(dont know correct term) are better for siganl then the one that I would have received from dell, which is a USB style. (also what is the difference between wireless G and Wireless N, been looking at the Linksys stuff, also does the wireless adapter have to match the "G" or "N"

I have also read alot of good things about Linksys, which setup would be good for me, need a good strong signal.

I really can't say. Neither brand really known for quality products. But without a router model, I really can't say much...

If I had to guess, I'd probably aim for the wireless adapter. Have you tested the computer on any other networks? Or any other wireless computers on your network?

Try getting the laptop right next to the router. I have to same problem. Dell PCMCIA 1350 wireless b/g. And a linksys router. it makes me think its hte DEll cause we have the same prob

It is a desktop actually, so it's pretty hard to move it beside it, the desktop is on the 2nd floor of my house, Router is on the first floor. What is a good router, and a new wireless adapter or card for my computer?
