Problem with New Installed memory.

I just installed 4, 1 GB PC-4200 240 pin cards and everything went fine and my BIOS read all 4 cards. When I go to Control Panel -> System -> General it says I only have 3.00 GB of memory and my Norton Utilities software is only reading 2.4 GB of physical memory. Do I have to do something special or did I install it incorrectly? I just added another gig to my laptop and everything went fine. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

TOO is correct, Windows XP 32bit can only address around 3GB of RAM, it varies slightly depending on the system configuration. I believe Vista 32bit doesn't have the same problem but I haven't used it so I can't say for sure.
