Problem with NTFS

Okay, this is pretty strange. I have searched all over google for an answer and have found nothing, but i have a 250 GB sata drive here that refuses to format using NTFS. The weird thing is i CAN format it via FAT32(using 8 partitions). I am trying to format using Vista, and i have also tried using a Vista install DVD, and an XP cd as well. It refuses to accept NTFS. But it does accept a FAT32 format. Any one have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

My 320gb Seagate did the same thing...I ended up screaming at it for 20 mins and explaining why it should go NTFS and how it would make it happy but it ignored me.

So I shipped it back to Newegg for a new one.

Seriously though I spent hours trying and never figured it out...if your able RMA it.

unfortunately, it's a friends mothers PC that i am trying to repair for her. No RMA possible. Oh well, if i have to i'll just tell her she has to have 8 fricken partitions until she can get a new HD LoL. This is the weirdest thing i have ever encountered.

Well it might be fixable so perhaps someone will know what to do.....but yeah thats just just what happened when it happened to me ^-^
