I am running amd athlon 1.7 socket a with a gigabyte ga 7vm400afa motherboard the problem is when I start my pc i get black screen with energy written on it and in white it says Warning Some changes in the chipset or clock settings caused boot failure, Defaults for these settings have been loaded and then I checked the bios I could'nt find anything that would cause anything also when I press f1 to continue it boots from cd not hard drive, and there are no hard drives written, there are 2 hd.

The CMOS battery's probably run out & your BIOS settings keep stuffing up on you...replace the small battery on the motherboard, then go to BIOS and reset all settings to defaults (There should be an option like "Load Optimal Defaults" or something along those lines). If this doesn't work, post here again and someone will help.

I took out the battery and but it back in and I went to bios and loaded the optimized settings and it booted and this is what I get black screen with infor cpu id cpu clock etc then I got to the second bar with information and it says diskette drive a 1.44m 3.5" which is wierd cause its not even plugged in and powered up, next doesnt read primary master disk since I have 1 disk seagate 80gig disk then it list pci devices listing with bus, dev, fun, vendor and all with numbers on the bottom it says verifying DMI Pool data and Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter I dont have any disk.

I know I will get on tomorrow, but now I booted I reads the primary when I boot up I get black screen energy written and model of motherboard and etc it has the primary master written but on the bottom in white coloring it says Warning!! Some changes to the chipset or clock settings caused boot failure. Defaults for these settings have been loaded, and when I press f1 to continue I get black screen and on the top left hand corner I get and dash mark blinking, and nothing.

K I checked again yesterday and I got checksum error meaning battery on motherboard is bad, will be getting one as I speak of I will post if this works. It sees the HD and the dvd/cd drive now. Just the checksum error, plus I didn't do any BIOS changes so it has to be the battery. I will post when I pop in the new one and see what goes on.

Ok I bought a new battery plugged put everything windows started, I turned off plugged my second hd to it and now Im its not reading none of my hard drives even the one that works minutes ago I get Disk Boot failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter. Even my optical drive doesnt work now.

ok it read the hd and the optical drive now but when everything loads the bios verion etc and try to load windows I get black screen with a flash - on top left hand corner. Anyone know what this is.

First of all this was my friend's pc I was trying to fix. There were couple problems the battery was dead on the motherboard, ram he had 2 different types of ram running at different speeds for some reason and I had to manually change the settings, its strange when I put it to auto so the motherboard detects the speeds it gave me ram problems, and s.m.a.r.t something was enabled I disabled it and it booted when enabled didn't boot gave errors. One more thing when the system boots up it there are two options either install windows xp or run windows xp professional. I anyone know how to get rid of that so it just boots without that menu every time you need to go to run windows xp you have 3 sec if not installer starts. I asked my friend about this and he said he always had this, he formatted it and reinstalled windows xp pro and still got that stuff coming up. I told him not to invest anymore into this pc just build a new one the cpu is still socket A.

Thanks for the Help Guys Really Appreciate it. ;)
