problem with removable disk drive

When i try to put my memory card into the card reader on my computer, it will show up under My Computer. When I try to open it to add files, I get the "Please insert disk into Removable Disk" message. No idea where to go from here...

I had same problem before, with my USB Flash memories and MP4 player. But always appeared a second drive which was functional.
Try to right click on the drive and select Eject.

That didn't work. In fact, eject wasn't even one of the options. I'm running Vista, if that helps.

tried different USB ports? Try direct into the motherboard.

It's a MagicGate Memory Stick, not a USB drive. And I only have one card reader.

well, I'm using xp so that could make a difference...
