Problem with Self-Build...

Hello, I've just finished building my first computer from all new parts, had an experienced friend help me out with the last bit...

We plugged the computer in, turned on the PSU, pressed the power button on the front...and nothing happened.
Have also tried power-up with the case open, and when the PSU is switched on at the back, there's a little green LED on the Motherboard which lights up...but when the front power button is pressed....nothing.

I'm positive i've plugged everything in like it says in the motherboard guide...

What could be the problem?

Josh

Could be. Unplug all the front connectors and try again.

Did you place standoffs correctly? Did you put too many/too little?

After you've tried all this, short the PWR pins together. This is basically what the switch does to turn on your computer.

You can't electrocute yourself by jumping a power supply. By the way, it's the green and black pin that you have to short out.

You didn't read the posts did you?

He suggested that the front panel connectors were faulty. I suggested shorting the Power Switch pins to see if it would turn on...

Last time i checked, pens were plastic? :)
Yeah, i figured it could only really be the case connectors, if the PSU is giving the motherboard power for the light to be on, then the case's on button is clearly not reaching its signal to the motherboard....

I hope i'm right. I can try shorting it.
