i bought a new powercolor x1600 pro agp video card. I got it installed and working but when I play a game it will let me play for about 2 seconds then it will freeze or the computer will still run but the monitor will say no signal and sometimes when i start the game I will get green vertical lines. The only games Ive tried so far is grand theft auto sa, sims2, and spyhunter. They games will work for a second but then those things will happen. technical support says to get a better power supply (mine is 300w) but I don't want to buy one if I don't have to plus why does it work but not for games?

Please help me

The link to the MB is bad.

It could quite easily be the PSU at fault. What are the amperage specs on the PSU, particularly the +12V rail? They should be printed on the side of the PSU. Download a program like Speedfan or use a multimeter if you have one to record the PCs voltages under load.

Have you tried putting the resolution settings lower, and decreasing the graphics quality in the games your playing? And also did you make sure to download the latest drivers for the card? And, the reason the card would freeze only during games, is because it dosent use much of your vider card to run windows or surf the net, or even watching movies. Its the video games that really put your system to the test. But if you can't get it to work right with resolution and setting changes, I would be willing to bet a more powerful PSU would solve your problem.

That sounds like your fairly typical PSU problem. I agree with the others, that's definetly where I'd start looking.

And also wrong section... Get out of my section! :P
