hi anyone. I cannot install windows xp. my computer is booting from cd room when is windows xp. I press a key to boot from cd and is coming black screen. What is a problem. what should I do? plz help me :)

Have you tried waiting? what happens if you just leave it for a while, if you are using a slow copmuter maybe it is trying loading something

I tried to wait for a hour but nothing. for information I think that my computer is fast.
OS-Windows 2000, processor-dual 3.2 ghz, HDD 80 GB, GeForce 256 MB.

I know that my computer when is booting from windows 2000 cd it's all right. I'm installing windows 2000 without any problem but I can't do this with XP. So to install windows xp first I must install windows 2000 and after that I may update with xp pro or xp service pack 1 but I can't update with service pack 2. I will be very grateful for your help thnxx.

Well MS recently started a windows update service program that looks to see if you have an authentic version of windows... maybe your win xp is a warez version?

My Windows XP is original. I formated my computer so many times before with that CD.
Problem is that I cannot format my computer with windows xp. I can format only with windows 2000. Maybe is any virus in hardware that cannot accept windows XP!!!

what i think you need to do is format the drive through the bootup disk, insert floppy disk, right click on A drive in my computer and select format then select ms dos boot disk.

in bios select A drive to boot first then use the format command. afterwards make sure you change bios to CD first boot then try again...if that doesnt work i'd almost think its your cd scratched or cd player not reading it correctly?

Yes good idea.

Have you booted from the xp disc on this and it just stopped working? Or did it just work on a different computer?

You can always start from scratch, wipe hard drive and leave it partitionless, take advantage of the mother board reset jumper, and remove all unnecessary hardware like sound card, printers\scanners, CD roms, floppy drives unneeded RAM cards, network cards, modems, additional HDs and so forth....
