problem with yahoo mail

I have something that keeps sending emails to everyone in my address book like two or three times a week. I have microsoft security essentials that has not found anything and I have run Malwarebytes with nothing found what can cause this

Your Yahoo account has been hijacked. Yahoo is one of the top hijacked accounts.

Just change your account password and it will stop.

Attackers simply go after weak accounts like Yahoo and Hotmail. As far as preventing it from happening, use a strong password (capitols, symbols, numbers) or switch to a more secure email provider like Gmail.

a trick i learned a few years back, not sure if it still works:
empty your contacts list.
add one entry like this: [email protected]

whatever is sending out spam will try going to your contacts list. when it hits this entry, it will return undeliverable. not sure if it will stop it anymore, but often you'll get a warning from yahoo that your account is sending out spam.

like i said it's a few years old. i'm pretty sure those spammers have gotten smarter. ymmv

yeah I have some old email accounts that are not good any more so I get the return undeliverable mail I changed my password so we will see if it stops I have had this yahoo account for like 10 years now and never had a problem I did build a new computer with windows 7
