Problem... :(

Hi guys,

First, here is my computer:

Amd Phenom II X4 965 processor, 3400 MHz
8 GB of Ram (Mushkin, DDR3 1333 MHz)
Sapphire Radeon 6570 1 GB
Asus M5A97 motherboard
500 w corsair power supply
windows 7 premium 64 bit
500 gb hard drive

(All drivers are up to date)

I have a problem for the first time since I built my computer: blue screen of death. It first happened when I installed the Sims 3. This game made my computer crash. I uninstalled it, and it stopped happening.

I then played Mass effect 2, worked like a charm at maximum settings.

I then played an online game called Vindictus. And then blue screens started happening again and again and again. Like more than 6-7 times in the last days.

I went in my UEFI bios utility, and I saw some strange things:

1) The MHz's of my memory are shown to be different on 3 different places: 1333 MHz, 1151 MHz, and I have the choice of frequencies (864, 1151, 1439 and 1768 MHz). I really don't get it.

2) My processor that is a 3.4 Ghz is shown to be working at 3.718 Ghz, and I don't know why, didn't do anything to "overclock", if it's what it's doing right now...

Also, the blue screen showed the following message: Stop: 0x000000F4, blah blah blah...

I did a system restauration, it ****ed up (sorry), I tried again, and it worked. But it reainstalled programs I had deleted (like sims 3) and it didn't want to uninstall. I uninstalled it with a forced uninstalling program, and it worked. I used a registry repair program, and it found like 78 files that needed repairing.

Anyways, can you explain why the memory is kind of ****ed up like that? And could you tell me what I can do to never make it happen again? For now, everything seems to be just fine.

Oh, and I ran an antivirus (MSE) and an antimalware (maleware antibytes), and found nothing.

Thanks in advance,

Install CPU-Z and throw up a screen shot of the CPU and Memory tab. That is if it will run long enough with out getting a blue screen.

Like that?

The reason its showing like that is you have your bus overclocked. Its a 216.7mhz. Did you overclock your Bus?

Like my name indicates it, I'm quite a computer newbie. I mean, I did build one, and it worked awesomely, but man, I don't even know what overclocking is... How do I take it off?

Thanks a lot, I'm gonna try that. But after what I did, my computer didn't lag at all, and no sign of blue screen. Should I leave it untouched, then?

@ salvage-this: No, I just disabled cool n quiet.

@ Stranglehold: I did what you said, but somehow, I was also able to put my memory speed to 1333 MHz... However, even before I did that, I restored my system to a past point, I repaired registry, and also did a lot of other stuff to clean my computer, including antivirus (but i wasn't infected), and it worked well, even though I used my computer for the whole day almost. So, I really don't know what to think about this whole story, lol...

Are those more normal?

It looks pretty normal except for your voltage seems a bit high to me.

EDIT: is your voltage set to auto in your BIOS?

Like said it looks ok. But the CPU voltage is alittle high. Think most 965 C3 stepping default to around 1.35/1.375V. The older C2 stepping ran at a higher default of around 1.4V

I was going to advise that you set it back to auto if it was not.

If it is at auto you can set it to 1.375 and test it to make sure that it is stable then go to down to 1.35 if you can. As long as it is stable, lower voltage is better.

Hi,

it is to auto. However, I don't seem to be able to touch it. When I put it to manual to modify it, there is no, like, "text zone" where to write 1.375, or whatever. I really don't know how to do this, lol. But hey, I mean, is it that bad if the voltage is like that? It's not as if it was at 2, right?

it better not be at 2! :P That would burn your chip pretty fast.

In order to change the voltage you do not just type it in. You need to hit + and - to adjust the voltage.

leaving it at 1.4V is not all that bad, mine is 1.47 :( It's just lower voltage will have lower temps. Might as well take the voltage down if it is still stable.

Hahaha, yeah, the chip would probably burn, lol. But at 1.4 v it looks pretty stable and I haven't seen a blue screen since... And it works like a charm again. :) Thank you guys! So I guess I'll leave it at that for now. :)

Take care,
