I just got a series of errors on my computer and now windows will not load... All that shows up is my background? My task manager has loaded other processes, but for some reason windows will not full open. I get to the same spot even when I try to start is safe mode and with a cd start as well. Any suggestion on how I can by pass these errors? I'm not really wanting to re-format, but it looks like i might need to...

Try pressing Control+Alt+Delete and see if you get the task manager.
Then End the explorer process if its running and then press file > New Task.
Type "Explorer.exe" And then enter. That should get you into windows.
Then run a virus scan, hijack this, etc.

is is possible that your video card is set to dual monitors? It could have the desktop being projected to a monitor that isn't there.

I'll try that and see what I can do. I think it's something to do with explorer, because I was having some trouble with it last night...

Spacedude when I do that an error comes up nothing happens.
Any other suggestions?

I'm getting these two errors.
1.Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close
2.Automatic Updated has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Well after deleting the explorer program file out of windows, everything seems to be working ok. I'm now getting a completely different error, but I think I might be able to fix it through safe mode. If not it looks like that drive is getting a fresh install of XP tonight.

Anyone know a good program for fixing and correcting windows errors?
