I decided to rob a DVD-ROM drive from my previous computer so I'd have both a ROM drive and a DVD burning drive. I disassembled the older computer, unplugged the drive, and then installed it the same way into my new Dell. At first it was freezing my computer every time I signed into my account on XP, but after switched the interface cable from the old computer to the new one, the new computer recognized the drive and it worked properly... for about 20 minutes. Now it's doing the same thing again.
The drive is a Toshiba SD-M1502. The new computer is running Windows XP Home Edition. I’m wondering if it’s the operating system that’s causing problems.
