Problems setting up 2nd Monitor (TV)

I'm having a few issues setting up a tv to act as a second monitor.

The TV in question has a single scart socket and aerial socket only. I'm connecting the tv to the s-video output of my card via a "scart to s-video converter", but because the scart converter is too fat to fit in my badly-designed tv, I'm having to route the signal through a 1 to 3 scart box (one of these).

All seems well, apart from the fact that my comp will not detect the tv. Do I need to enable the s-video output or something? Or is there something else that should be damned obvious to me?

I'm trying to set it up using the nView tools as bundled with the Nvidia driver (I have the latest version before you ask). I have no third party software installed to do the job.

Hmmmm, thats exaclty what i use. Im hooked up to a 19" TV via scart -- s-video connector. The only thing that is different about our two setup's is the fact that you are using a scart 1-3 connector. At a guess, i'd say thats your problem, it must be restricting hatever the PC does to find the TV.

Resolution: Well, i think its self explanatory now, try to fit the scart cable directly into the TV, if that doesnt work....... switch to the hammer to the computer trick, that always works!!!!!!

Unfortunately as I stated before it is impossible to fit the scart adapter directly into my tv because the plastic outer shell of the tv is blocking an area right beside the scart socket (nothing I can do about that).

Would a scart box really prevent its detection? And if so, is there another way you can think of to get around the problem?

Well, im not really sure but there may well be an adapter of some kind that will route a scart connector into the normal co-ax ariel socket. If there isnt then you can either give up on the whole idea and try hooking up to another PC monitor instead of TV or go out and buy a new TV (one the you are sure will be able to fit the cable).....
