problems using and configuring phpbb

im trying to make a phpbb forum for school.
when you click the report thread button, what happens?

im the administrator, and i cant find anywhere that tries to notify me that theres a thread thats been reported. anyone know?

smtp server? idk were just hosting it through my friends hostgator account.

also, how do you unlock threads after you lock them? even though im an admin, it says this thread has been locked and has to be unlocked before editing.
