problems with connecting pc to 50" hdtv

i used the red, green, blue cables to connect my pc to a 50" LCD HDTV. Whenever I turn up the resolution, the desktop goes off screen. I can still see the whole desktop by moving the mouse around but I would like the desktop to fit on the screen. My main reason for using the tv is for gaming but the screen cuts off the top and right side when playing. I now have the desktop resolution down to 800 x 600 so that the whole thing fits. How can I get the desktop to fit properly on the tv? Thanks.

Use a digital cable like HDMI to DVI or regular HDMI cable with DVI adapter then adjust resolution accordingly. If it's a 50'' you should run 1080p.

thanks for the quick reply. so i cant do anything with the green, blue, red cables then? is there something i can do using ati tray tools to fix the problem?

the problem is the analog signal. my roomate tried to the same thing you did but only with my 42'' TV and had the same problem. Maybe we missed something but HDMI/DVI looks so much better on such a big screen.

ok so could you link me to the cable so I know exactly which one to buy?
also, can i use that green, blue, red cable for something else? Will it make a difference if I use that vs the standard RWY cables on a dvd player?

The cord you want looks like this.

You can also use this cable if you have it (you probably do) but I'm not sure if your tv has it, its being fazed out on newer high-def models.
