Only for the real wizzards!!!
Hi there....
This problem is a bit complicated. Please take a moment to help me to solve it...
I am experiencing problems with receiving my email from my email provider server (based in Sri Lanka). At the moment I am in Kyrgyzstan in a project office and on a LAN network with internet connection provided by Kyrgyz Internet Provider. The problem could be the distance between Kyrgyzstan and Sri Lanka. When I use another email address from a different Sri Lankan Mail Provider I have no problems. When I am in Holland I also have no problems downloading my email from the Sri Lankan Server.
AnywayL the following information
1. I am on a LAN network but when I use a dial-up connection the
problem remains.
2. When I download from another email account, not with Ceylinco,
but from Sri Lanka (sltnet.lk) I have no problems.
3. I can not use other email programs either to receive my email,
therefore it are not the settings on my outlook express that I use.
4. I am able to make a connection to the server and get the list
with number of email to download. Sometimes I am able to download small
messages but larger ones (>25 kb) always get stuck. When I am
downloading the messages one or two might come through when they are
small but than nothing happens. Eventually the connection is broken due
to a time-out with the server. It gives the following message:
De server heeft de verbinding onverwachts afgebroken. Mogelijke oorzaken
zijn problemen met de server, netwerkproblemen of te lange inactiviteit.
Account: 'lanka.ccom.lk', Server: 'lanka.ccom.lk', Protocol: POP3,
Poort: 110, Beveiligd(SSL): Nee, Foutnummer: 0x800CCC0F
This means: The server has disconnected the connection unexpected.
Possible causes are probllems with the server, network problems or too
long inactivity.
5. I am able to check my email with mail2web.com. This often says that the password login name are not right.. This is of course not the case
6. Last week I was in Holland and I was able to download all my
emails from a LAN network without problems.
7. Sending email is not a problem.
Anybody has any ideas??? Could it be just the distance or is there more to it?
Thanks
Koen
