First let me tell you what I have. I have XP pro on my Dell Latitude 600 lap top.

The problem: It wont go into standby or Hibernation. I dont even have the opetion to do it manually. It is no longer in the Power Options in the control pannel.

What Ive done: Everything I can think of short of reloading XP. Ive ran Adaware, Nod 32, Ive restored the computer twice. And a few other stuff I cant remember right now.

What does everyone suggest?

Try re-installing your chipset drivers, and making sure they are not disabled. Post a pic of your unmodified Devices panel if the above does not work.

How do I do that?
Put in the recovery CD (while in Windows), find the drivers folder (it should be a seperate folder), and find chipset, and run the installer.

I know it has something to do with drivers. I had this problem before, but it just went away one day, sorry. I am pretty sure its a drivers thing though.

it works to an extent,

this might be a silly solution but hey, ill try it.

uninstall you drivers to your chipset and reinstall it, when it askes you to rrestart in this process do so, and we'll see if it is the drivers

Have you tried going to your control panel, opening up the power options and seeing the tab named "Hibernation" and enabling it?
