Could any one please help me - Thank you

My sons computer has no sound. Its when he tries to play music. I have tried everything to rolling back the sound drivers & system restore and looking at the sound settings in control menu but it just wont let me change any of the settings. If i bought a USB sound card do you think this would solve the problem. They are £30 so i would like some advice before i waste any money. Not sure if he has mauled with any settings.
Here is the one i was going to buy

Thank you in advance

i would go to the computers manufactures website and down load the audio drivers, then go into device manager
and uninstall the current drivers first and then re-install the new drivers, before you spend any money,

Onboard sound failure isn't uncommon, but neither is it common. A USB sound card might fix it, if nothing eise is conflicting with it... speakers are good, no hardware conflicts, ect.

Thanks for your help. I tried that but because its a custom built computer not sure if i did it correctly. Is it the mother board name driver i programme in to look for the driver??

Thank you

Just a quick question, did you plug the speakers into the front sound slot? (Integrated into the case?) or did you plug it into the rear motherboard sound ?

the lead is plugged into the rear motherboard sound (which has been working previously)

The mother board is a Winfast PC760M02 GX GLS and i cant find the driver download anywhere

Thanks for you help

:)

Update - Thanks everyone for your help. I contacted the shop where i got the computer from and they gave me a disc to install the driver for the motherboard and hey presto - My sound works now. Kids must have deleted the sound driver. Ime glad i didnt pay out the £30 for a sound card!
