Alright i don't know if neone can help...but i'm in a stiff here atm...firstly i'll let u kno issue...i downloaded new video drivers for my Nvidia card...now i took a risk since they were off of download.com

http://www.download.com/MSI-nVidia-b...9.html?tag=pop

I also have a MSI board with a Nivdia Geforce4 Ti 4200
Operating system is as follows:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
1.65 ghz
1.00 ghz of ram

My problem b4 this was installing the new direct x also f'ed my cpu up which disabled me from viewing anything quicktime or flas related...so i thought this mite help...so neways i installed these new Nvidia drivers..restart the comp...n now i can't listen to music nor play videos...

Now i'm thinkin i'ma have reformat very soon, but not comepltly sure yet...if there's any way around reformatting can someone please tell, it'd be much appreciated

P.S. after my first problem with direct X, i also coudln't watch movie ful screen for the resolution was shot to **** n it would go seriously choppy

i think the problem came about there with your motherboard and card. i expect you have a msi motherboard and another brand for your graphics. i think the driver you download are for specific MSI hardware and it cant install the drivers properly and therefore the graphics wont work properly.
i would uninstall those drivers and go to the nvidia website and download their latest driver offerings

quick question

So should uninstall directx as well...cuz i mean when i tried installing it, it says i have a bad windows sumthin or another...cuz i didn't install windows myself, but rather thru the place where i built my cpu...also what Nivdia driver do install?

graphics driver
multimedia software
platform/Nforce driver
Workstation application
Games utilities and tools
Consumer 3d stereo (i doubt i need)

?

awesome, thnkz guys u guys r my saviors rite now...i'll try gettin direct to re-install again tho, see what happens

sadly, by visiting the microsoft page for directx you've managed to get caught by microsoft for having a copied version of windows. now, the only way of getting around that is to go to a site like www.guru3d.com to downlaod directx

Yea i've got my music back, but still no flash or video...so i'm assumin i either have a virus, or cpu is seriously f'ed...ideally reformatting would seem plausable...but yea i'ma chek for a virus first. cuz the slow down isn't fun

Yea i got media player 10, n installed shockwave, but change, i even restarted, still nadda...now don't take me for a complete idiot...but i just don't know wut else to do...i thik the root of the problem started with AOE3 (age of empires 3) whereby it automatically installed direct x to my comp...after that everythin jus kinda got f'ed up...weak resolution...flash disabled...it was weird

First go to control panel-Display-settings-advance-troubleshooting-hardware acceleration, make sure its on full

next go to system tools-system information-directx diagnostic-display,make sure direct draw, direct 3D and AGP texture are enabled

ok my display functions aok...altho when i'm in system information, what category would directx diagnostics be under?
