problems with striker 2

A friend bought a striker 2 and q9550. We build the computer, but it is so unreliable. Its been failing to post and has been crashing in and loading windows. I managed to get it 2 boot 2 windows by disabling things like the self throttling and thermal control. Im also running the cpu at 2ghz (333 fsb x6 divider) and as soon as i put the cpu bak up 2 2.8ghz, it wont boot into windows. I have also run prime on just 1 core at a time and the computer runs fine on 3 cores, but on core 0 it crashes the computer after a few seconds. Could this b a bad cpu and does anyone have any ideas of wat I can try next?

hey sorry I was a bit confused by the post, so it runs well with all cores but disabling cores creates a crash? what is your heatsink? have you flashed your bios?

no, all the cores were on, I was just running one copy of prime at a time to test to see if 1 or more of the cores have a problem.
