Problems with troubleshooting

Hello,
Recently I built my first gaming PC & all of the assets turn on, such as the fans, lights, & monitor, but the monitor always says that there is no signal. I have tried multiple strategies, such as resetting the system, taking out the small battery chip on the motherboard, tried different connector ports, making sure the ram cards are in place, & even switched out the GPU to see if it's dead or not, but none of this worked.

Being the first PC I've built, I did have some troubles assembling it. I was very "hands on" with the motherboard & I had to replace the thermal gel on the cpu because I messed up consecutively putting the fan on. The metal plate on the bottom of the motherboard which you screw the cooling fan into, ended up coming off in the beginning of the process as well.

Here are the PC parts in using:
Cpu: Ryzen 5 1600 6-core 12-thread processor
Gpu: MSI AMD Radeon RX570 4gb
Pcu: Evega 500watt
Ssd: Adata su635 240gb ssd
Ram: 8gb 32000hz DD4 Ghost ram or something like that
Motherboard: ASRock B440M-HDV R4,0 AM4 AMD Promontory B450 SATA 6Gb/s Micro ATX AMD

I hope someone can help me out. Thank you

Either motherboard is shorting out against the case because of a standoff not installed correctly or in wrong spot. Or pci express slot is dead. Or issue with the cpu. When you had to replace the thermal paste and remove the cooler did you accidentally pull the cpu up out of the slot with it? If so, the cpu or motherboard or both could be damaged.

I did not pull the cpu out of the slot, although it certainly was a struggle & a lot of tension between the motherboard & I. I tried to twist the fan off to loosen the thermal paste in between it & the cpu. I will check the standoffs to see if I have one misplaced. Would it be okay If I took out the CPU and checked the pins to see if I did damage it by any chance?

If the motherboard is damaged or built wrong, do you think they would be able to give me a refund or new motherboard even though I have already placed parts on it? If my CPU is damaged, would I be able to send it back & get a new one as well?

To check for shorting between motherboard and case, you want to build the motherboard outside of the case on a piece of cardboard. You can always remove the cpu and check for bent pins. You also sure the cpu was installed correctly?

You might have to take it in to a repair place to have them diagnose why it won't boot, they will have extra parts to determine what is wrong.

Alright, I will do that and see what happens. Sometimes, when I try to start it up, it doesn't run at all. Does this help you give a better diagnosis?

Another note:
I have figured out that all of the USB ports work, although the VGA & HDMI ports do not.

Correction to my last few messages:
The PC turns on with all of the fans working & USB ports, although the monitor does not.

I hope this helps narrow down the issue. I will work on re assembling it soon & give it a closer inspection on all iso the pieces shortly.

Hello,

If you connect the PC speaker to the pins on the motherboard, what kind of beep code does it give you? That should help determine a specific component.

Hello,

It seems to have 2 long beeps, then 2 short beeps. What does that mean?

Usually that's BIOS related like 'corrupted BIOS'. Does the part number on your 1600 end in AF? Should look like YD1600BBM6IAF.

I mainly ask since there are actually two versions of the 1600. The 'normal' first gen one ends in AE and is supported on all BIOS versions. They released another 1600 with part number AF which is essentially a downclocked 2600, but was produced on the 12nm process instead of 14nm. For the AF part you'd need at least BIOS version P3.30 on that board, so that may be the issue if the image isn't new enough.

You might be able to get a PC shop to throw in an original Ryzen and update the BIOS for you if the one you have is indeed an AF version (AMD also offers a free CPU loan kit)
