Problems with video card upgrade

I upgraded from an old ATI Rage Pro to an Nvidia GeForce 6600

When I turn on my PC, my monitor shows the windows spash screen and when the desktop would be loaded up I lose the picture and the power button on my monitor blinks.

My guess is that my new video card needs more power than what is being supplied and is being kicked off. I'm not sure if I need to change some jumpers on my motherboard or get a new power supply.

My motherboard is an Intel D845WN and the old and new video cards were pluged into an AGP slot

I looked on the back of his power supply and flipped a red switch to change from 115v to 235v (I believe it was 235v). I've never messed around with power supplies much, but I'm going out on a limb that it's going to pump more power through the power supply? The main reason I'm asking about this is that I'm hoping that there isn't TOO much power going through. I've been told that a cooked motherboard doesn't smell that good :P

He just told me that his computer booted and he's got to the desktop. He's not going to turn it on, just in case there is anything we need to know. We can't exactly afford to buy any replacement parts should anything bad happen :(

...if you don't know what you're doing, DO NOT start messing inside the computer! Or anything related to stuff you shouldn't be messing with... That little switch is NOT something to pump more power into the computer. It's to convert the power for use in other countries. If you want more power, it's not the watts or volts you need to worry so much about, it's the AMPS.

As for something bad happening, it probably wouldn't because you're trying to get 200+ volts from a 120v plug. Now if you where in another country with 200v plugs and switched to 120v...ZAP!
