Hi

Mycomputer just decided to magically restart itself for no apparent reason or warnings.

Also I have noticed the past 2 days on 1st startup a yellow shield with "!" in it saying updates 0% complete.....but it never changes from 0%.

AVG anti virus and anti spyware found nothing the past 2 days also

Try to disable automatic restart so you actually see the blue screen of death, that should give you an indication of what the problem is.

why would auto restart be on now when it never did that ever

Auto restart means that windows will restart itself automatically after a fatal error happens. The blue screen of death is the screen that Windows displays when its brought to its knee, it contains alot of useful information like error codes and the name of the module that caused the crash. For example, IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS, is a common error you will get when you overclock your hardware too far.

can u please tell me how to do this as i am not experienced with the actual computer system and what should and shouldnt be pressed.

if i press the turn off auto restart ur saying the blue screen will only come up when the computer flips out........what do i do if this happens........can i still access the computer to fix stuff back to normal

To disable Auto restart, Press windows key and the pause and break to get into the System properties. Once in look for a tab that says performance or something along those lines, i have vista now so I'm telling you this from memory, then look for the section on startup, click that and you should get options of what to do when your computer flips out.

When you see the blue screen of death, your computer has died and it can only be revived with the reset button. What the blue screen does is display a postmortem. It shows why Windows died and the codes that it displays are very helpful.
