I use Startup CPL to manage the progs that startup on my Pc, its a lot more convenient than msconfig and you can also delete things instead of just disabling them. for a link: http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

It really depends on what you are doing with your computer to determine how many processes it too much. When on the internet, I have my Firewall, D/L manager, Firefox, etc... running so usually I have around 38-40 processes when online but when playing games, I keep it below 30.

how do I create a hijack text?

I can't really get into the trouble of installing new apps right now, under msconfig do I disable processes running at startup from the last tab or from the second tab from the end as well?

I would disable more, if there are things your unsure about, type the file name into a yahoo search and there are ussaly tons of pages telling you what its for and weather tits bad or good.

That's a little better but you should be able to cut it to 30, and if they are all things like internet secuity it shouldn;'t be to big a deal, just with that many i would suspect bad thigns like spywayre, I have 32 right now, with mozzile open, nortan, AOL, gtalk sound and video drivers

Your fine! I just have the basics running on my computer like antovirus and firewall and microsoft processes and I have 34 running! But 60 was way out there

I personally recommend having no more than 30 processes running. Anything more than that peaks my interest in a bad way.
