Processor Change

I recently exchanged my faulty laptop with
a Brand New HP Pavilion Slimline Home PC (Forgot The model No - I'm not
at home ATM) and when I got It home I realised It
hadn't got a very good processor on it. Can I change
it to something like a Core 2 Duo or Anything better
than it's current processor?

I have 2GB of Memory and I run On Vista Home Premium.

Cheers:D

Yeah It's written on the side of the tower! Bugger.... Im not at home!!! But I'm not sure what board it is... I'd rather not open it because I usually screw things up

Ermm. I will have to get home from college first. But the computer number is the only number that i can get. So I guess i'll post it tomorrow. Cheers for helping me.

Okay dude I got a few numbers:

The Computer Is An HP Pavilion Slimline S3514.uk
and the Processor is A Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz

would I need a certain amout of ram for this processor?
I have 2GB

So I can buy any core 2 duo processor chips that go under the names in the last post. That's cool

Is it one or two chips that come in a pack becuase duo is 2 right

No you can have enough ram as you want but if you do upgrade above 3GB you will need a 64Bit OS, i say 2GB is more then enough.

Yeah and processor from the previous post will work.

One physical processor is all that you need no matter Duo, Quad, Octo.

Unless you're installing the processor in a sever there will only be only physical processor.

Shoot, too bad we don't have any guides on this from although a desktop guide will probably be suffice though you need to remove some back plates. :)
