I'm trying to find a good heatsink/fan for my processor but after looking at about 9 different sites I'm feeling totally baffled. My processor is an AMD 64-fx 55 (socket 939). I'm willing to go up to $100 and how loud the fan is isn't an issue to me. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate the help.

I have the Zalman CNPS7700-Cu and it's great. At full blast, it keeps my CPU hovering in the high 30s under heavy load. But be warned, not only is it huge, it's heavy - just over 2 pounds. I was so scared I was going to break my motherboard installing it and then lifting my case back upright. Just make sure your motherboard is supported.

w00t! Before I can answer, what motherboard do you have? If it fits, id suggest you have a look at the Thermalright XP90 (or XP90c) and a nice Panaflow ~50CFM fan. If thats a bit hardcore you can scale down to a Arctic Cooler 64 or the Zalmans

Yes and so is the Typhoon4 but the Zalman is lowhanging while the Tower112 doesnt have any ram/cap collision issues
It looked to me that the only difference between the XP-90 and the XP-90c is that the "c" is made of copper and about $30 more. How much of a difference does a copper heatsink compared to an identical aluminum one? The cost really doesn't bother me too much it's really more of a curiousity thing.
Also, just for clarification, this is the heatsink only, and I will need a fan also for better performance? And if so how do I check compatibility?
