Processor/GPU tempeture

what is the safezone for both of these under load.

right now im getting

Processor Temperature : 34 °C
Processor Temperature (Core 1) : 42 °C
Processor Temperature (Core 2) : 38 °C
Processor Temperature (Core 3) : 36 °C
Processor Temperature (Core 4) : 36 °C
Mainboard Temperature : 20 °C
:
Video Monitoring : nVidia Driver
GPU Temperature : 49 °C
GPU Ambient : 38 °C

right now i have AOL, Yahoo IM, MySpace IM and World of Warcraft running... just wanna know what the temp needs to read to start getting worried

The board temp is great seeing it that low. Have an air conditioned case? :P

While a little on the warm side for some those are well within the normal temp range as far as the cpu and cores. The ideal of course is obviously lower while those don't hit any panic alarms at this time.

If you start seeing temps hitting the 50C mark then you will know that something isn't right. When fans get loaded up with dust and come to a crawl that is when you will most often start seeing temps go up. If a fan fails you will notice a temp increase from that.

The worst is the cpu fan failing or the thermal paste/compound giving out then not seeing any good heat transfer into the hsf. over a period of time as the compound hardens up and fans start slowing you can expect to see some increase especially when placing a good load on everything. If you oc at all you will want a block of ice sitting on the cpu instead of the hsf to keep it from cooking with the lowest possible.

humm i just dont wanna worry lol... u said 50 degrees celcius... i have seen my GPU get to around 52 ... also the processor, do i want to pay attention to the core temps or the processor temp itself?

What are you using for the heat sink there stock or 3rd party? A stock hsf will see warmer temps. Plus that's a quad not dual core model seeing the extra pair of cores while the temps you listed above are not any worry. If you see all of those climbing then you will know that something is wrong.

At this time right now after leaving the system running here 24/7 the cpu is 38C with core #0 seeing 33C and core #1 seeing 36C. This is with an AMD AM2 6000+ X2 dual core model in a 900 case with a Zalman 9700 sitting on the cpu.

I can game now for the next 5-6hrs and the temps will barely budge. If I suddenly saw 50C.. oops! I would know right away something needed attention!

video cards can run much hotter, especially the 8800GT. mine runs idle around 58 and load at about 65, which is totally fine. above 70 is where i get concerned, but people have reported running their 8800GT's at 90C+ stable

That will also depend on whether or not they cranking things up a little on the card explaining the higher temps there. The MSI Radeon HD 2600XT mid range model never seems to get over 29-30C idle or when running a game for several hours at a time. You expect a high end card to see a bit higher with a larger vpu but 90C seems high while older cards were known to go upto about 110C before cooking!

dont AMD's run cooler then Intel anyway. cause i do see my CPU temps are 34 - 39 went not under load but go up to around 50 on core 1 and 44 on core 4 under load. so doesnt seem like a problem.

my gpu idles at 49 which is fine.. and underload it goes rises to about 57.

AMD models are generally somewhat cooler while the newer models following the P4s are geared towards drawing less power through them to help keep temps lower. The old P4s were known for frying eggs on them! :P

heh .. well i was just playin bio shock and i kept monitoring my processor and video card.. the cored got to 50-53 degrees each and the GPU got to 63 max.. thats all in the normal range correct? ...

my temps::

Temp1: 50
Temp 2: 37
Temp 3: -2
Temp:65
HD: 32
Core1: 34
Core 2: 34
Core 65
Ambient: 0

IS this okay???? Running minimal setting... but the case is in a tower stand in a new comp desk... The two that are at 65 are I believe the Vid Card... 8600gts.... am I gonna live.... IT is HOt in my home btw... fire in the fireplace.

thanks

Seeing cpu core temps down in the 30s is about average. For seeing in the 60s for an 8800 model card you have to look at the size of the chip on the card itself. A larged vpued card will see higher idle temps as well.

For seeing core temps in the 50+C range that better be with a good load on it. One way to see lower cpu temps is by lowering boards temps with increased cooling seen for the case. But I suspected the quads would run a little warmer in general having a second pair of cores in those.

Just keep an eye on the temps anyways. Stock cooling will see higher idle temps from the start over a good 3rd party cpu cooler. But the newer models have a far lower max temp rating.

The high end gaming cards in the last few years always have some type of vpu cooling method inplace. That can be a large heat sink if no fan type cooler is mounted. When people were ocing the old AGP cards some saw over 100C and wondered why they then saw system crashes.

The sight of 50C under load with the stock hsf wouldn't be any surprise. But if you are running a good 3rd party cooler like an Artic Cooling or Zalman model you expect to see cpu temps down under 40C under load. A case lacking any good air flow causing board temps to run high will certainly see all other temps climb as well.
