Processor OC

Okay, when I press enter while marking the CPU clock ratio, the windows where I can choose speed pops up

and at the bottom it says: "Key in a dec number"
Can that be something?
 
You need to Save and Exit (press F10). Your system will turn off (physically off - don't freak out, not a soft reboot) then start up again a second later running at the new speed.
 
All I can find is Load Optimized default, not optional, optimized doesnt work, it stays the same, and there is no optional default
 
My computer has gone all slow and, when it boots up I get an error in BIOS saying "Failed to load Floppy disk(s)" and I have to press F1 too continue.
 
Optimized doesnt work either, it just slowed down my computer, I still cant choose how fast its gonna go

I get that error on startup "Failed to load Floppy disk(s)"

EDIT: OMEGA if you were too look on my other posts on the other sides you'd see that I usually use the edit button.

I would just like to say that when overclocking do not overclock unless you have the money to replace it.

Moving on.

You need a good motherboard, power supply, ram, and cooling.

When overclocking try to keep your Core 2 Duo UNDER 65C at FULL load on all cores. Also a rule of thumb with the voltage on the Core 2 Duo's is on the 65nm chips do NOT exceed 1.6v and on the 45nm do NOT exceed 1.45v on the core voltage. Anything higher can case permanent damage to the chip.

When overclocking you must first gradually raise the FSB until it will not post/boot into your OS. Once you hit that wall give it a little more voltage on the CPU and a little on the northbridge. Keep doing that within a safe limit. The average overclock on Core 2 Duo's is about 1.2ghz over stock. And remember that Quad cores are harder and require more TLC than Dual cores because you have to make sure ALL 4 cores are stable at those settings.

Now to make sure your overclock is stable use a program like Orthos or Prime95 to stress the cpu and a program like CoreTemp or RealTemp to monitor your temperatures in real time.

I myself have the EVGA (with XFX BIOS and VDroop mod) 680i and the E8400 (45nm dualcore). I hit 55C on water cooling at 4.5 ghz. It is nice but the performance is not much higher than running it at 4.2 due to something called FSB holes that exist on ALL motherboards.

I'd like to know how to remove that floppy disk error I get when I start the computer :p

You should really have a 600watt or more for the PSU. I run a 700 watt OCZ GameXStream in my system when I had 1 8800GTX. I have a 630 watt Raidmax and it did not cut it.
 
Oh well, I only want to OC it a little bit, maybe 2.6 or 2.8. I'd still like to get rid of that annoying error, my comp lags as hell since I got it
