Processor Speed Clock.

Hello. I didn't know where else to put this, but I hope this is the right direction. Please let me know. I want to make my processor faster. What will I need to upgrade it? I'm still stuck at 1.91 GHz. Here's a picture of it to explain it more clearly. I'm not sure how to describe this. Please let me know. I need to know more about computer on the hard-drives. Thanks.

Are you saying that 1.91 GHz is not the clock speed, and it is running slower, or that you want to overclock it?

edit: google your processor, and it should be running at 2.133GHz. But it is not always running at full speed, just to save power. The system only uses as much processor power as it needs for any given time. That is why it only shows up as 1.91GHz.

Huh? I didnt ask a question. Did you think I was Raditz or something lol?

Only the thoroughbred version, the barton runs at 1.91 Ghz. I think he wants to add more "Ghz" to his computer :P

So that's is the speed of something for the computer. So you can not upgrade it. Or overlock it.

Thats the current speed of your processor. You can upgrade if you want, or you can overclock.

If he doesn't know otherwise, it's probably stock. You should be fine for some mild overclocking, but always keep an eye on the temps. Read through OC101 before you start.

I have found Athlon XP's to overclock very well, my 1800+ went easily from 1,53GHz to 2,03GHz. And the temps are 45C idle.

thats not athlon XP's in general. as praetor said in o/c 101
"Naturally having a good CPU is important: some CPUs are more friendly to OCing than others. Generally, one, two or three models back from the latest and greatest is an ideal OCing processor"
the athlon xp 1800+ is the same as its counterparts, simply underclocked.
therefore, it was extremely easy for you to reach the higher clocks.

for example, i was able to get my X2 3800+ to 4600+ speeds without an overvolt. thats because all athlon X2's are designed to run at 2.4ghz, and then they downclock some of them and sell them for cheaper prices...

again "Naturally having a good CPU is important: some CPUs are more friendly to OCing than others. Generally, one, two or three models back from the latest and greatest is an ideal OCing processor"
my X2 was the last in line, the slowest X2.. and i got it to be faster than the fastest X2 on the market :) of course, its no FX processor still.. lol
