I have a dell computer with a Pentium 4 1.8GHz processor And I have another dell computer with a P4 2.6GHz processor. Both have the same amount of pins and sockets are the same. Can I just Swap processors to get a little more boost? Besides Physicaly putting it in would I have to do anything else to make it work?

You will most likely need some thermal greese. You can get it at most computer storees or online. And yes you probably could swap them
heres an example of a good product:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835100007
and a video or two

Dont worry that the videos are for AMD, they still are simmilar

Thanks for the info. I got that part. Both are from dell computers and there is a huge heat sink with a boxed fan. Would I have to adjust the cpu clock any or would it be changed automaticaly?

Ok I did it but its running the 2.6 cpu at 1.3. WTF. I have a dell OEM motherboard so I can't adjust the clocking to get it where it should be?

If I were to buy a new motherboard would I have to flash a bios or OS if I use my old Hard drives and components? Also is there a difference in the Windows xp you get with a dell computer and one you buy of the shelf?
