Processor Upgrade?

I've been given an old system that I'm trying to beef up a little, it's circa 2001.

Currently running an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (266 MHz FSB) CPU in an MSI K7T266 Pro2 Ver 2.0 motherboard.

Not wanting to upgrade the motherboard yet so from what I know that limits me to a Socket 4 / 462 chip and does the board limit me to chips with an FSB of 266 MHz or slower?

Any suggestions for processors? Found this on fleabay. All help appreciated.

here it says

# Socket A for AMD® Athlon™/ Athlon™ XP / Duron™ Processor.
# AMD Athlon XP (Palomino, Socket A) 1900+
# AMD Athlon (Thunderbird, Socket A) 1.4GHz
# AMD Duron ( Socket A) 950MHz

seems to have limitations on what can be put in of that socket

From MSI the fastest processor it supports is a XP Athlon 1900+

They made a Barton core XP Athlon 2800+ with a 266 FSB. I have no idea why it could not run a higher 266 FSB XP Athlon. Could not be the votage because the Palomino ran on higher voltage then any of the XPs. They might just have stopped updating the bios.

It supports more then just those three processors. About 5 XP Athlons lower then the XP 1900+. It supports all Thunderbirds, they went from 700mhz to 1.4ghz. And there are a bunch of lower then 900mhz. Durons.

Thanks for all your help, managed to pick up an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ on ebay for £1.20, now just have to hope it works like the seller claims and fit it.
