I'm trying to decide between the e6750 and the q6600.
Is the quad core really that much better? TBH, I don't really plan to do a terrible lot of multitasking...the comp I'm building is mainly for gaming. And when I'm gaming I definitely won't have much else running. So is it worth it for me? What do you guys think?
 
Q6600. When the support for 4 cores for games comes, you'll be roaring. Make sure it's G0, as their the same price. Newegg and ClubIT have Q6600's, while ClubIT has an G0 for sale at the same price. G0 basically is cooler, and better at overclocking.
 
Get the q6600, you can oc (if you want) to 3.0Ghz, and when the games support 4 cores you'll fly!

If you don't want to oc (like me) get a e6850.
 
I wouldn't buy until this holiday season. The 45nm's are coming out, as well as the AMD quads, so prices of older ones will drastically drop. You might regret it if you spend $300 on a processor and 2 months later they're selling it for $150 or so.

In an way. G0 is an stepping, just basically an better re-design of the origional one, which was hotter and unefficient. I would wait, if you could. The new Quads are better and are around $200. Your call.
 
Ok so I've decided on the q6600. So what does waiting for the holidays do for me? I mean I didn't really plan on building until around then anyway, so does it mean a cheaper price and better product?
 
The new quad core is coming out with 45nm chip. However, it would be in Q1 of 2008 I believe (That's what people have been talking). Not sure you want to wait for that long. Just FYI I guess.
