processors

hi i am currently running an older computer on a foxconn 760GXK8MC
with a sempron 3000+ processor running at 1.8ghz. being an old board i am wondering if they still make a 1.9 ghz processor for my board.

They don't make them anymore, no. Even if you did upgrade to something like that, you wouldn't see any noticeable difference in performance.

your only options are new mobo and cpu or to go to ebay and try your luck, too bad everyone pays nearly retail or above so deals are scarce after everyone started going to it and nobody knows jack on there so that doesn't help, and if you upgrade and you'd like to be able to get a faster cpu one day, then either go sb and you can get a pentium dual 2.6ghz for 88 i think and a mobo for like 70 or less, or get an am3+ and the 60 buck athlon dual then you can go up to a bulldozer one day or phenom ar just about anything else out now from amd, and they have some mobo's from them for about the same, but either way you go you will have to get new ram and hdd and possibly dvd drives, so you have to do a build basically or find something on clearence or ebay.

Really would be a waste of money. If you just dont want to build a newer computer or cant. You would be better off looking for a Athlon 64 then a Sempron. The board supports up to a Athlon 64 3700 socket 754.

I agree with others. It would be a waste of money attempting an upgrade on such an old system. The increase in processing power would be near nothing on an upgrade. Look for a system with an "Athlon II" or "Phenom II" processor in it with at least 2 gigabytes of RAM.

You can actually find old processors like that quite cheap on ebay. I wouldn't go with the 3700+ 'cause they are a bit pricey, but you could pick up a 3400+ for only around $30 and it would give you a bit of a boost in performance. Of course given the age of the machine you should probably be considering a whole new computer pretty soon.

really i would watch newegg and look for one of their combo shellshockers where they basically include everything but a gpu which you probably won't need if you're running on that, but you can keep your hdd if you get a controller card from ebay if you know your type, but they get you the mobo, cpu, ram, and sometimes other stuff too for around 2-300

Newegg.com could have easily answered this question.

My personal opinion is it'd be a waste of money upgrading to be 100Mhz faster. It's time to get a new motherboard and processor if you are thinking about upgrading.

like i said, watch for a shell shocker combo for a good deal and most likely you'll need to get new ram and stuff too and they normally do a deal like that with cpu, mobo, ram, and more once every week or so.
