Product faulty, or system error?

I received the 500w OCZ ModXtream-pro power supply that I ordered from newegg. After installation, I tried to power up my computer and the power supply made this very faint beep, and my computer's power light just started blinking orange. Nothing else. All the cables were hooked up just as my original supply, which it still works fine with. Is this a faulted hardware or some sort of other issue? I just don't wanna return it claiming it doesn't work if that's not the case.

I just realized that it says core i7 compatibility, does tha tmean that it will olnly work with a core i7?

No, it doesnt mean it will only work with a core i7. Did you make sure that you hooked up the cpu power connector? Could just be you got hit by a stroke of bad luck and got a bad power supply though:(
