prof to xp

no sp2 is a service pack.

It's just like a big update that changes a lot no need to reformat the hard drive.

Best regards,
Francisco

You can't perform a clean install with just a service pack, all a SP is are several hotfixes, security updates, and sometimes a few added features. If you want to have a clean install, you would need to reformat with your XP Pro disc and then install SP2/SP3 afterwards.

i have windows xp professional Sp1 and im trying to get to windows xp home sp2. i have an .iso from my cousin and he says i have to preform a clean install on it and hes not sure if it wipes the hard drive.

Why on Earth would you go from XP Professional to XP Home? You can download SP2 for free on the Microsoft website!!

Since SP3 is already out just download it and install. It has all the updates that SP2 has plus more fixes and updates.

it wont let me install sp3, do i have to have sp2 to go to sp3? it finishes extracting all the files and then it gives me a setup error that says: installation did not complete. (no error code).
