Program Icons don't go away!!!

Hi to all.

I have a problem. I have recently downloaded a few programs (DVD player, Codecs etc....) and have finished using them so have deleted them from my hard drive. But to my surprise the icons still appear in the program file list in the start bar? When I click on them they don't open as they are not rteally there. Is there any command I can give to the computer to get ridd of them??

I assume any program you "deleted from your hard drive" was through either the Add/remove programs or its own uninstaller.
Right click on them in the Start/Programs and choose delete in the menu that pops up. They should only be shortcuts to non existant programs.
