program problems, virus maybe?

So my computer was running fine, then I noticed that some of the programs were acting funny. First is the netgear wireless card, for some reason windows defender blocked it from starting up when I turn on the computer, so I turned off windows defender and it still does it. Also I bought starcraft 2 online and installed it and now it wont load. it kind of freezes. Is there some kind of virus software that is realy good and free that can fix it?
 
If you think you are infected then do this.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware


Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

I don't see any issues in your log. Seems you have other issues. Try doing a system restore to a day when everything was working fine.
 
I really don't think your hard drive is causing the issue. You shouldn't have deleted your restore points. I would have tried going back to a day when it was working fine and see if it stayed working ok.

so what are the options now? other than system recovery.
 
Sorry for not getting back to you. Since you have deleted your restore points, doing a system restore is out of the question now. You might have to resort to doing a repair install of windows or even a fresh install.

However, lets go a little deeper into your system and see if there are any hidden infections.

Download and Run ComboFix
If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.


In your next reply please post:
  • The ComboFix log
  • A fresh HiJackThis log
  • An update on how your computer is running

If this don't bring up anything then it might not be a bad idea to do a disk diagnostic on your hard drive.

it might be a program because I ran my computer in safe mode and was able to do everything. itunes opened up so did starcraft 2. so it seems like a program is blocking it.
 
Alot of drivers are disabled in safe mode as well. Have you installed any new hardware or software lately?
 
Look in the event viewer to see if there are any entries with errors. Right cllick on "my computer" click on manage, when the page loads up click on event viewer on left. You have a few subcategories under event viewer, I would concentrate on system and applications area.

sorry I thought it posted, something went wrong with ie.

there are about 20 in a row for bonjour service, the event id is 100, Task Scheduling Error: Continuously busy for more than a second. I guess thats why itunes isnt working.
