Program using another program as a server???

I notice a lot of times that Zone Alarm will give me a alert message that says:

"A program wants to use another program as a server" (Deny/accept)

What does this mean? What is the purpose of having a program use another program as a server?

Can this be used as a possible security breech on the system? Is there any harm in just letting it go? (clicking accept)

If anyone can explain this to me I would appreciate it.

Hello,

This can pertain to a legitimate piece of software such as a FTP server. Unless you know what the program is or what it does, I would not allow it. You may need to clean your system with a spyware program and antivirus if you are not sure what is trying to be passed through.
