Program works in Windows and Linux (Ubuntu)?

Suggest a programming language that will both compile under Windows and Linux (Ubuntu).

Is C# a good candidate?

No interpreters/translators/emulators plz!
 
Try wxwidgets http://www.wxwidgets.org/

It's cool because instead of compiling with GTK for all three OSes (I say three because besides compiling for Windows and Linux it works with Mac too) the interface is native to the OS. Just take note that I've never actually used it. lol I have heard it's really good though. :)
