Is there a program that can stop a process or pause it if your CPU temp or MoBo temp goes too high? I'm running that F@H, but I don't want my computer to overheat or anything... I don't think it will, but it is best to be safe... right?
 
Have you had a look in your BIOS, most motherboards offer that type of feature. (But it will just shut down rather than just stop the process).

I have not seen that in my BIOS, but I'm sure it has it... I think my computer has overheated and shut down before... but that isn't what I want. I just want to pause a program/kill it/pause process...

If thats all your doing im sure your PC wont overheat, if it is then you have a cooling issue and would suggest getting some better fans, heatsinks, etc..
Unfortunately I havnt heard of a app to do what your requesting, you might want to wait and see if anybody else knows of such a thing.

Sometimes I have other things running too... (I try not to). I don't have a cooling issue, but if there is such a thing, I'd feel a little better using it.
 
Not to be pushy... but I've googled and googled and have not found a thing.

I kinda want this as a safety when I decide to OC
 
F@H uses only the free cycles a CPU has and you can manually set the usage if you want. Most modern motherboards will beep a lot then restart. This is their way of saying some thing's a tad too hot.

You can also end them through taskmanager... but that isn't what I want

I'm looking for a program that monitors the temperature and says "hey, thats too hot, better back it off a little". rather than shutting off...

but the temperature that the program would use would be lower than the "shut off" temperature...

But a batch file could be designed so that if your CPU usage or memory is above a limit, then it will suspend, or end given non-essential processes couldn't it?

Not sure about being able to shut off or pause processes depending on the temperature directly, but since CPU usage is more-a-less proportionally related to it I would've thought the above could work well enough.

That is if it is even possible for command prompt to return the CPU usage, and I'm not sure whether it is or not.
