Explain to me how he going to play any video game that require Dirctx 9 with FreeBSD? Since he said he tryed installing doom patch am going to asume he likes to play video games once in awile. The reason you was called "fanboy" Is becuase you recommended freeBS without even trying to look at the programs he would like to use most likly. Why dont you try looking at what the user needs before recommending something that wont work on possible programs he would want.

Doom3 has Native *nix Support moron.

Keep it up and yer gonna get promoted real fast. If you take that fancy A+ and apply it to reading you'll notice a smidget of common sesne:
Now stopping to think about that ... do you really think learning a whole new OS is a feasible -- and ideal thing to do? Perhaps you have the luxury of sitting and learning a new OS but some other people have, you know ... job, work, other stuff to deal with ... so hence my comment

name a game that you can play on windows that I can't play on Fedora Core 4. the point is, you can't, the line between linux and windows in the game world has been erased, not only can you play games from your linux desktop, but you can enjoy the awesome comforts of Linux, such as package managers that allow you to update all software on your system with one command, and install any application you want from a library of over 160,000 FREE applications. you could never do anything like that on windows, not to mention the undeniable fact of how unsecure windows is compared to *nix.

So you want someone that is having problems working windowsxp to switch to Unix. Score major points in the fanboy column.

I work full time, and goto school, and I managed it. It's not difficult at all, it takes maybe 3 or 4 hours to get aquainted and maybe 1 week to feel totaly comfortable, and that is well worth the years of enjoyment you will find in not having viruses, and not having a fragmented hard drive, and all the FREE software, not to mention the fact that everything is Open Source too.

*nix is easier than windows. that is why in every country that can't afford windows, people have been able to get along just fine with linux.

yeah, so you think that anyone that uses something other than windows is not only a fanboy, but an overachiever? broad sweeping generalizations are not your friend. you should consider getting a job in technology that doesn't involve bathrooms before you dictate advice or opinion to other people.

Im glad you agree. You lack maturity, foresight, depth and ability to stay on topic. As for overcheieving, you try 2 full time psot secondary institutions and two jobs before playing with big words ... but it must be nice to live at home dont it? But you are right about one thing ... i will dictate.
