i opened my cpu BOX didnt open packaging around cpu on my carpet and since theres cut outs showing the plastic i dont think anything would happen to damage the cpu....right?

Ok IMHO

Yes that should be fine. In the future I would not open anything standing on carpet if you can avoid it. I use a grounding strap and do all my builds on the island in my kitchen as I have wood floors as well.
