so i am going to sell my one computer which has a q6600 o c to 3.2Ghz, and socket 775 motherboard, because i have a athlon II x 4 630 that im not using, as well as 6 gigs of ddr3 1066 ram. i will need to just buy a new motherboard. can somebody please list some pros and cons about changing platforms, and changing cpu.

so far i have come up with these:

PROS
up to date socket (will this be the standard socket for a while or are they going to change it soon)

faster ram and upgradable to faster ram than my 1066 chips

usb 3.0 and sata 6

CONS
slower cpu? (have no idea how well this can overclock. anyone?) it also has only 2mb of l2 cache, as where the q6600 has 8, but also shares differently than the amd chip. so i dont know how it will stand up to theq6600 standards, but im thinking that if i can oc it to 3.5Ghz and with th efaster ram, it should perform the same or better.
any body have any other thoughts?

The 630 OC'd to 3.5 should easily beat a Q6600 at 3.2 in most tasks.
As for socket AM3, well things always change. AM3+ is coming out soon. I would just suggest getting the latest 890GX board and going from there.
You should be able to OC the 630 to the 3.5ghz on stock voltage most likely, maybe a slight bump needed. If you only run the stock cooler I'd stop there. If you are getting an aftermarket cooler, you will most likely be able to get to about 3.8ghz at 1.425 or so Vcore. AMD chips can take more voltage than intel, and the also don't run near as hot especially the Athlon II's.
