greetings,
i have a question about proxies....how do they/it work?...does it "shield" your ip address so that you (in effect) can't be found?...any programs (proxy)out there that do this that can be installed?....freeware?...thanks!

Is that enough for you?

I agree there are good uses for a proxy but very few people want to know about them for good reasons. Discussion of them is against the rules, or did you not read rule #2?

...is what enough for me??......i see that you agree that there are / is a good use for proxy servers. you are helping establish my case in chief. if a proxy server is a good thing as you have as such made statements against interest and of this board, why is it then ABRBITRARILY BANNED from discussion here then?

i see in your displayed name that you promote comics/comedians whom probably sell their works on the net or to a public venue. why isn't that banned here for promoting a business or business activities on the forum?

why should i do that?...you are a "moderator"...humnnn..anyway, you have been "left in control" (so-to-speak). you really believe i have much of a chance here making that argument when i am relativly new and that your are a "prostitute" (SO-TO-SPEAK) for the "super-mods?...as an attorney, i would request a change in venue for sure. disclaimer; i am not calling anyone names here and my dialect should not be taken as such.

i see in your displayed name that you promote comics/comedians whom probably sell their works on the net or to a public venue. why isn't that banned here for promoting a business or business activities on the forum?

making a stern argument calls for an infraction?...i have not slanderd anyone, nor have i called any names and my presence here is meerly to find out about a proxy server use as well as to get an understanding as to why certain rules apply to some and not others or why "the brass" are allowed to promote business activities and such as i previously mentioned and without sanction!

that action clearly does not warrant any sanctions against me by this board unless it is to flee from any concrete argument i have.

is the threat of yours not the same thing as "i am going home and taking my ball with me"?..at any rate, here is the value of a proxy server and with that, prosecution rests and moves for a directed verdict from the judge...have a good day "gentlemen"..

Give me one instance where someone was able to discuss proxies. This is not relating to business, this is relating to proxies. No matter how hard you try and say that it is business, the main thing is that we are talking about proxies. Even if you had good intentions, someone else who didn't could use the help that was given to you to use proxies illegally.

Again, this is not about how proxies can be used for good, it is about how they can be used for bad. I (and we) aren't denying the fact that they can be used for good.

***nobody i know said anything about a proxy relating to a business. i stated in all clarity that a part of the "signature" of a moderator has a couple of lines in it that promotes a "comic" thusly promoting his/her works or the sale/barter/trade/support of that "comics" materials or teh comic himself...that to me would violate forum rules. additionally, someone could by a gun for hunting for food and to feed his family and yet, use that very same gun to hold up a bank or whack someone. anything that is maintained for good can also be used for bad. your example and argument is very poor and cannot be sustained in any regard.

***nowhere in any of my posts have i stated that i or that proxy servers are going to be or are being used for "bad" as you put it! as you can see what i wrote in a previous post, it (proxies) have a significant and acceptable use in both home and business..

All discussion of proxies (good and bad use) is banned so that there is no grey area or double standards. Say what you will about me being a Super Mods prostitute, I actually couldn't do anything about what's been done even if I wanted to, it would take a Super Mod or higher to do anything about it. If you can make a good case, time spent here has no impact.

The rules are the rules, you don't have to like them but you do have to respect them.

I have links to comics, which can be freely viewed in there entirety. I don't have links asking you to buy their books, nor are they links that provide me any gain what-so-ever. I'm not getting anything from the authors/comedians/whatever you want to call them for any traffic that goes there because of those links, there is no benefit to me, I just like the comics and believe that others will as well so I provide a link to them.
