proxy

There are of course several free proxy services out there which you can use, and im sure youve found them all by now. Yes of course you can make oour own proxy service, this is how i get round the blocking system at my school and library.

You will need to install WAMP5 webserver software on a PC thats connected to the interent (NOT YOUR OWN< THAT DOESNT QUITE WORK PROPERLY), with WAMP5 installed, youve now got web access to your PC and the PHP package, version 5 i believe. Now youve got PHP installed on your "server" go and download the free publically available script called PHProxy, there are lots of versions out there, just grab one download it and install it into your webservers root directory.... HEY PRESTO, youve got a makeshift proxy server that bypasses all security.

If you want to see it working then head over to www.dragon2309.ath.cx thats my server,a lthough its sometimes turned off. Once your there, click on PHProxy tab at the top.

Hope this helps, dragon2309

unfortunately yes it does.... your computer is now acting as the middle man between your UNI computer and the remote server thats blocked (in this case google for some reason). If you were to turn your home computer off then the chain would be broken.

I have downloaded all of that. And installed the PHProxy script, now how do i get it online and change the address and design the page. I would also like to add a torrent search like you have done.

You could also rent some server space for just a few bucks a month, and just download PHPproxy, or CGIproxy(better, but host may not support it if its to cheap) and it would be easier and faster then running one on your own pc.

I've found Tor + Privoxy to work well for me. It's much more reliable, and anonymous than your average proxy.

Not to mention it's simple. Download and install Tor. Download and install privoxy. Forward all of privoxy's traffic through the port Tor is listening on. Set all your applications to connect through localhost on the port privoxy is listening to. Add both to startup. Done!
