Ps3 and 360 Res question

Yes...they are 1080p capable.

I'm not sure I'm fulling understanding your question. But the PS3 will play Blu Ray and some (many or possibly most?) xbox 360 and PS3 games are 1080p. They say on the back of the game what resolution is supported.

From what I read the 360 is not truly 1080p capable on with upscaling. Also the resolution on the back of the box is what resolutions it can support not the native res. For example most of my game say 720p/1080i/1080p on the back, this is just the resolutions they can support.

From what I understand most of the 360/PS3 games aren't 1080p but are upscaled to 1080p. GTA4, MW2 are both 640p native and are upscaled to 1080p on both 360 and PS3. Although most games are 720p, it just depends on your TV if the game will upscale to 1080p.

Neither display true 1080p, but both have a video scaler to increase the resolution to the higher, 1080 resolutions.

I believe the PS3 in fact does have a couple of 1080p titles, one of which is GT5 Prologue and GT5 itself will be 1080!

Games that run the Euphoria engine (GTA4, RDR) however usually don't because they eat the CPU for breakfast in any machine...
