1) Is the PS3 blu-ray drive region free for games AND movies?

2) If not, is there a way to make it region free?

I don't know if this violates forum rules, cause I don't know if this is illegal :S

If so, please answer question 1 and ignore question 2.

im not sure but i think the games are code free but the movies do have a region code,
there proberbly is a way of making the ps3 code free but its such an expensive piece of kit i wouldnt do it ,it would invalidate the warrenty.

its pretty stupid.. cos you can just use vlc player..

and why do they give you like 5 region changes on a dvd drive? hahahha so you can use pirated movies only 5 times... with region changes... makes no sense hahaha.

More like to protect the movie studios benefits.

So, can I de-zone the blu-ray drive in the PS3 to be able to read all there regions (A,B and C)?

No, the Blu-Ray players have a region attached to them just like the DVD players do. And the DVDs themselves also have region code imprinted into them.
